Topic: Member News

Sterling Planet is pleased to announce that its partner, Solar Light for Africa (SLA), has earned the right to compete for as much as $1.5 million in funding from American Express.

SLA is a semi-finalist in Members Project, the online initiative that invites American Express cardmembers to name the most worthy projects for funding.

With enough votes, SLA will provide 20,000 solar-powered lanterns to bring light to 100,000 people in rural, war-torn regions of Sierra Leone in West Africa.  As thanks for voting, Sterling Planet will give you 1,000 kWh of 100% new wind energy. That's an $18.50 value, enough Green-e Energy certified wind to power the typical home for a month.

To vote, go to www.voteforsolar.com before midnight Monday, September 29.

Only American Express cardmembers can vote.  But if you aren't a cardmember, you can still help. We urge you to spread the word about this special funding opportunity. Tell your friends, neighbors, family members and your entire email contact list. Or simply forward this email message.

After voting, contact Sterling Planet for free wind energy to the first 1,000 voters. To provide proof of your online vote for solar lighting in Africa:

1. Print-screen the top 25 list, with a star displayed beside "Solar Powered Africa - LED Lanterns Lighting the Way."
2. Write at the top of the form: "Enroll me in Sterling Wind™. The first month is free." (You may cancel your enrollment at any time.)
3.  Fax to 678-325-3174, attention: Carol Hathaway
