Hartland High School Receives First Green School Honors
Education
4/20/07 - Almost a year after being signed into law by Governor Granholm, the Michigan Green School program named its first officials recipient Friday. Fittingly, Hartland High School received the honor as it was environmental science students there that developed the list of twenty energy saving ideas that schools could implement. Under the program, any school using ten of the criteria will be named as a Michigan Green School. Hartland High School Principal Chuck Hughes received the designation along with a "Michigan Green School" banner. (below) Other Hartland Schools that are also ready for their Green School designation include Ore Creek Middle School, Farms Intermediate and Lakes, Village, Creekside and Round elementary schools. They are among 18 schools in all that have already joined the program. Organizers expect dozens more across the state to join in the coming year. (JK)
